Father of the tango song

The
original goal of ALMA DE TANGO, ARGENTINE TANGO CULTURAL CENTER was the diffusion of the tango culture in
Australia and New Zealand. Hugo
Fernández and a group of enthusiasts founded our Center
in 1997 and since then have dedicated their energies to make the "TANGO ARGENTINO"
known in this corner of the world in all its facets : its music, its
poetry and its dance.
Alma de Tango was the first
tango-only school of Argentine tango in Australia and it became the
center of
propagation of the Argentine culture
and art in Australasia. We offer in Brisbane, Australia, access to our
cultural resources (that is music, biographies, lyrics, graphic art, visual
material, literature and learning means), thus sharing our quite comprehensive
understanding and knowledge of the cultural richness of the tango art.
Thereby, interested people themselves will unveil and experience the fascinating
mysteries of the interpretation of the tango music through its dance (Quoted from various authors) :
- Contrast: through the interplay of opposites,
freedom and discipline.
- Creativeness: through the instruction of techniques
to allow the individual's creativeness to manifest itself,
every tango is a new tango, each new pair of partners
creates it from the beginning.
- Sensivity: to the music and his/her partner,
the inner feeling, the state of heart recreates the history of
tango every time the dancers take to the floor,
- Beauty: allowing the individual to appreciate and make active use of
his/her
corporal embellishment
- Expressiveness: trough a popular dance,
rhythm, nerve, strength and character.
- Form: he creates the form, and she fills it with perceptivity and beauty...
- Responsiveness: in a state of heightened awareness, both, man and woman are
watchful to the nuance of tempo and rhythm.
- Clearly Differentiated Roles:
It may take two for tango,
but only one is in control
the man is in pursuit,
the woman defiant and elusive.
..yet there is an inviolable contract
between the partners...
The tango can express a wider range of the feminine than any other dance...
- Certainty: when a man leads a figure in tango, he must place the woman's body
accurately...
