Argentine Folklore Class

Argentine Folklore
The word Folk-Lore appears for the first time in Argentina circa 1886 when used by Samuel A Lafone. Then in 1887 Quevedo use it in the introduction of his book "Londres y Catamarca, cartas a La Nación, 1883-84 y 85 (Bs. As, 1888).  Later in 1986 Joaquín V González commented on legends, described traditions, music and rural living, and wrote: "Folk-lore, ciencia y arte fecundísima".

The gaucho's existence reached a recognised peculiarity in Argentina around the XVIII century, in a way it was possible to distinguish within the social landscape of those years, the  peculiar life style of that human type, fully blended with “the pampas”. The various faces of the wilderness, including the outfit, the food, the horse riding skills or the country work in general, the way of speech and the superstitions, the poetry, the music and dance form a traditional popular culture (folk) fundamentally regionalised in the vast River Plate's natural grasslands.
